This year graduated from the school a total of 12 members of 5B4ES. These seventh formers took the club on their shoulders half a decade before to organise it and restore it to its former glory. If their work was successful is for time to tell, yet many where the changes they brought about.

Their era ended with two meetings. At the first one the committee for the new school year was elected. At the second one the departing chairman 5B4AIP handed over the keys of the 5B4ES shack to the new chairman George Soteriou in a symbolic gesture of changing shifts.

The departing members are certainly expected to keep an even closer relationship now as old boys but they would also like to wish to all those who will continue their work all the best and good luck!

 

 

 

On the 16th of May 2012 the Cyprus Ministry of Communication and Works Department of Electronic Communications organised an exam for those who wanted to obtain the HAREC Certificate.

Our members George Soteriou, Nicolas Yiakoumi, Andreas Economou, Constantinos Anastasiou and Raphael Georgiou took the exam. To our great delight they were all successful.

We are all very much obliged to 5B4AHZ for delivering lectures to these students, prepairing them for the exam. His contribution was vital and if it was not for him we might not have been 100% successful.

 

 

Our member and Chairman, Christos Kakoutas 5B4AIP, operated from 5B4ES in the 2011 All Asian DX Contest in the Single Operator High Power Category. We were happy to find that he finished 2nd in Asia and the World. Yet we were delighted to learn that being 17 years old at the time, 5B4AIP won the Junior category (18 years old or younger). He will therefore receive a donoured plaque from the Alumni Association of JA7YDX which we would like to thank. We are also obliged to Stavros 5B4AFM. It was he who informed 5B4AIP that he could apply for the award in the Junior category. We are now eagerly waiting for the plaque to mount in on our woll of fame along with the rest of the trophies of 5B4ES.

 

 

It is with great delight that we announce the purchase by our club of a projector and its screen with joint funds from our members and the school. This equipment now upgrades our shack raising its function as a classroom to a higher level. The equipment was used for the first time in a lecture delivered by Nestoras 5B4AHZ to our members as part of their course for prepairing for the HAREC Examinations.

 

 

 

This year three of our members took the Ministry of Communication and Works, Department of Electronic Communications, examination for the HAREC. To the great delight of the club all three of the members passed. This means 100% efficiency for the club and is certainly something to celebrate.

Furthermore, since the two are younger than the current operators, this ensures that there will be somebody to continue operating when the current operators graduate.
